To ensure meaningful communication with others, we often seek ways to listen more in depth. Deep Listening Essentials is an experiential and practical course that introduces Awareness Centred Deep Listening Training (ACDLT®), a unique approach developed by Rosamund Oliver. This evidence-informed method helps participants learn the foundations of the Deep Listening method:
Bringing together insights from psychology, neuroscience, and compassion-based approaches, we explore how practical listening skills drawing on awareness and compassion can be applied immediately in both professional and personal settings. Participants learn how to remain grounded and attentive while listening, create a safe and supportive space for others, and respond compassionately without becoming overwhelmed or drawn into fixing problems.
Participants consistently describe the training as both enjoyable and transformative, reporting increased confidence, greater ease in listening, enhanced resilience, and a deeper ability to support others. The course is given in English.
The Deep Listening method is based on three foundational capacities:
Participants explore:
Deep Listening training is experiential and interactive. Participants learn through specially designed listening exercises, guided reflections, contemplative practices, and discussions in both small and large groups. The emphasis is on direct experience and practical application. Short presentations provide the conceptual framework, and experiential exercises enable participants to discover how Deep Listening can be integrated into real-life settings.
For whom? This course is designed for people who already have experience of using the skill of listening and who wish to strengthen their listening skills. We welcome diversity and unique experience.
