Deep Listening Essentials

Exploring the transforming power of open, attentive listening

In-person course in English over two days

With Rosamund Oliver

Friday 31st January 9:00 - 17:30 CET
Saturday 1st February 9:00 - 17:30 CET

This two-day training, Deep Listening Essentials is based on the Awareness Centered Deep Listening Method (ACDLT®). Deep Listening Essentials transforms existing listening skills deepening the listening relationship. Special experiential and interactive exercises are used during the training to enhance listening both to the speaker and to yourself.

If you wish, you can extend this to a four-day course by also booking the two-day Deep Listening Practice as a follow-on, which offers more topics and a deepening of the key skills. Each part of the course is booked separately, however Deep Listening Practice is only for people who have already completed 2 days of Deep Listening Essentials.

The method of Awareness Centered Deep Listening Training (ACDLT®) was developed by Rosamund Oliver in 2003.

The three core skills of this method - embodied awareness, supportive presence and compassionate connection - are explored interactively with other like-minded participants throughout the course. We also use meditation and reflection to deepen our experiences of embodied compassionate communication. We focus throughout on integration by using practical ways to bring this method into your work and in everyday life. The course is presented in English and the  listening exercises take place in your own language.

Topics covered during the method include:

  • The experiential knowledge needed within the listening relationship to listen well.
  • Staying compassionately in touch with both yourself and the other person, while listening.
  • Strengthening your own resilience.
  • Enhancing your listening skills in different situations.
  • Taking care of yourself while supporting the other person.

For whom? This course is suitable for those who already use listening as an essential part of their work and who wish to complement and enhance their listening expertise.

Location: St. Dominicanenklooster Huissen, Stadsdam 1, 6851 AH Huissen.

Course fee: €424. Includes meals, drinks and overnight stay in a single room. Excludes tourist tax.

Each day commences at 9:00 and concludes at 17:30.
